This week’s #tuneoftheweek is a reel in C which is in the pipe scale. I’ve been starting to have a whistle revival as I have been neglecting it a little recently concentrating on flute and piano. I do love the whistle though and I’m going to aim to play it more often.
There is a story behind the name of the tune. I work for a charity called Live Music Now which aims to bring live music to people who wouldn’t normally be able to access it. I play in duo with fantastic fiddler Kristan Harvey and we go all over Scotland performing to mainly older audiences. Many of our venues are care homes and we have found that we are rather good at getting lost whilst trying to find the venue. When we do find where we are meant to be we have noticed that there is seldom an entrance sign or a door which looks like an entrance so we’re never quite sure if we’re in the right place. We always get there in the end though.
Here it is, ‘Are We Here?’.
