I’ve been thinking about what to write for this week’s #tuneoftheweek all week. I had decided earlier in the week that it would be nice to write a slip jig as I haven’t yet written one for this project. I have in the past written many slip jigs which are on my Irish dance CDs and which I play for Irish dancers. I’m hoping this one could cross over between being for dancers and also being a session tune. I wrote the tune on the flute setting out to write in G major (as my last 3 tunes have been minor I fancied a change). It wasn’t until I sat down at the piano that I realised it’s mainly E minor chords, but I’m still pretty sure it’s in G, ish…
About the name of the tune… This week my boyfriend and I were having a bit of a heated argument during which I informed him that he was skating on thin ice. His response was “I think you’ll find I’m pirouetting on thin ice” which I found absolutely hilarious so thought I’d name this tune after it. We’re all fine now!
Anyway here it is ‘Pirouetting on Thin Ice’.
