Tune of the Week: Clitheroe Castle – Tina Jordan Rees (Week 48)

The last tune I wrote (Zoe’s Globe) was in G minor. I must still be in G minor mode as so is this latest tune. Week 48 #tuneoftheweek is a jig I composed on the piano last week. I didn’t really use any specific composing techniques for this one, I just let it happen and this is what came out. It has different chords to the reel I wrote and I quite like playing the two of them together in a set.

I’ve named it ‘Clitheroe Castle’ as I love heading up to the top of the castle whenever I go home. There’s such a great view of the town and Pendle Hill from up there. It’s great to blow the cobwebs off as well. A few folky friends of mine have been playing gigs in The Grand in Clitheroe recently and they all made it up the Castle which is great!
