Last week I played at Folklub with Gráinne Brady. We were joined by Eamonn Nugent on bodhrán. Folklub is a new folk club in Glasgow set up by Mr David Foley to encourage and promote live folk music. Tickets are a mere £8 and you get to enjoy 3 bands/acts. Folkclub happens once a month and there have been some amazing musicians and bands play at it so far.
We started the night with a half hour set. It was rather nerve-racking as most of the audience were our pals which was quite scary. I really enjoyed the set though and can’t wait to get back on stage again with G&T. If you fancy hearing the tracks from our EP you can do so by clicking here.
After us played Edinburgh based band Dallahan. The main act of the night were The Boston Boys. I hear the night was fantastic with great music from these two bands. Unfortunately myself and Gráinne couldn’t stay to enjoy the acts after us as we had to hop away to the west end to run a session in the Lismore Bar.
We’re looking forward to going to December’s Folklub where Mike Vass will be performing music from his latest album “Decemberwell”. The Elephant Sessions will also be performing that night. Make sure to get yourselves down to it if possible as it will be a great night.
Also, Folklub has been nominated for Folk Club of the Year at the 2013 Scots Trad Music Awards. If you fancy voting there’s still a couple of days left to get your votes in. Whilst you’re voting for Folklub you might also fancy voting for myself in the Up and Coming Artist of the Year Category 🙂
