I think I might have to write a tune called Trip to Clitheroe after that!
What a great weekend we had. Myself and Gráinne headed down to Clitheroe on Saturday 29th June joined by bodhrán extraordinaire Eamonn Nugent and also our biggest fan (and fantastic fiddler/composer) Adam Sutherland. We managed to fit a piano, 2 fiddles, a bodhrán, 4 bags, piano stand, a load of CDs plus the four of us into my tiny wee car. It was cosy to say the least but good fun all the same.
We had a quick soundcheck on Saturday evening – Adam made his way up from biggest fan to sound engineer in one afternoon, fair play to him and a big thanks for helping us out! The gig kicked off on time in the New Inn with support from two local musicians. We played two 45min sets and a few informal tunes followed. The audience was very energetic and we really enjoyed playing for them, a lot were family and friends so thanks to everyone who came along.
On Sunday evening we headed over to Blackburn where we played a live set on BBC Radio Lancashire’s “The Drift” with presenter Phil Brown. You might still be able to catch it on iPlayer for the next couple of days. Thanks to Phil for inviting us on the show. After that we had an eventful nighttime drive back up to Glasgow.
A big thanks has to go to my mum and dad who put us all up and fed us for the weekend!
I had an amazing weekend and can’t wait for further G&T antics!
