Blackburn Open Féis 2013

Blackburn Open Féis 2013

The Blackburn Open Féis took place on Saturday 18th May at St Wilfred’s High School in Blackburn, Lancashire. This is the first féis the school has held since it has joined forces to become the McNamara-Clarke School of Irish Dance.

I first began to Irish dance under the (then) Blackburn School of Irish Dance when I was 5 years old – a scarily long time ago now! I danced with the school until I went to university and here and there after that as well so it is very special to me.

For the last 3 years I have kindly been invited to play the music at the Open Féis. This year’s féis had quite a different feel to it with a new venue (an excellent one) and lots of new faces.

I very much enjoyed playing the music for lots of lovely Irish dancers all day. A pretty good way to spend a Saturday I do think!

Well done to Siobhan Clarke and all the team at the (now) McNamara-Clarke School for putting on such a lovely féis. Here’s to many more!
